About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic psychiatrist to lead our team at Nouvita Healthcare. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be a key figure in shaping the strategic direction of our psychiatric services, ensuring that our care meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive treatment service that delivers high-quality care to individuals with mental health problems, based on evidence-based practice.
  • Provide expert advice on psychiatric care and take overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to foster positive working relationships and ensure effective communication.
  • Oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring that systems are in place to support appraisal and revalidation, and identify and escalate concerns about conduct or performance.
  • Maintain effective leadership and provide clinical supervision and mentorship to other Consultant Psychiatrists.
  • Represent Nouvita Healthcare externally, raising the profile of our business and establishing working relationships with commissioners, community teams, and other key partners.
  • Participate in quality enhancement and service evaluation projects, and contribute to research relevant to service improvement.
  • Lead the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for the hospital and foster a culture of learning.
  • Provide input and advice on initiatives that require a medical perspective, such as the implementation of recommendations from NICE or national inquiries.
Requirements
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) and in good CPD standing
  • Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • At least five years' experience in an in-patient setting
  • Experience of working in a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Experience of working in Acute Services
  • Ability to take independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, MHA, and MCA
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current practices in in-patient Psychiatry
  • Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need
  • Evidence of participation in audit
