Position Overview:

A dynamic and ambitious firm of chartered accountants is currently looking to expand its team by hiring a Lead Financial Accountant.


The Lead Financial Accountant will primarily support a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, business and individual tax returns, while also providing advisory and tax planning services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a varied client portfolio, including small to medium-sized businesses, retail, construction, and contractors.
  • Preparing financial statements for review by senior management.
  • Handling corporation tax returns and self-assessment returns for individual clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, becoming their main point of contact for any accounting, tax, or VAT inquiries.
  • Participating in client meetings and addressing general client queries, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Utilizing various accounting software such as FreeAgent, Xero, IRIS, SAGE, and QuickBooks.


Position Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing or assisting with a client portfolio.
  • Strong background in personal and corporate taxation with a solid understanding of tax regulations.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as accounting software like IRIS, Xero, SAGE, FreeAgent, and QuickBooks.
  • Team leadership skills, including the ability to mentor junior staff when necessary.


Remuneration:

  • Competitive salary up to approximately £50,000 per annum.
  • Standard working hours from Monday to Friday.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home for a portion of the week.
  • 20 days of annual leave plus public holidays.
