Position Overview:

As a Child Welfare Advocate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the rights of children are upheld within the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Policy Development: Support Police Scotland's dedication to integrating the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into all aspects of its operations, driving positive changes in policy and practice.
  • Rights Management: Address and manage issues related to children's rights within Police Scotland and the Scottish Police Authority (SPA), fostering a culture that promotes fairness and effectiveness in policy formulation.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure adherence to statutory obligations regarding the UNCRC, guaranteeing that procedures and practices are equitable, transparent, and objective.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work collaboratively to incorporate children's rights into Police Scotland's policies and practices, actively involving children and young people in the impact assessment process to deliver services that cater to their diverse needs.
