This position is pivotal in ensuring that children and young individuals in Scotland are well-informed and actively involved, empowering them to influence and drive positive transformations in their communities, ensuring they grow up in a loving, safe, and respected environment.

The role focuses on establishing a framework that allows children and young people across Scotland to build a relationship with Police Scotland, viewing the organization as one they can engage with and influence.

The primary objective is to spearhead the design, planning, and execution of the youth engagement and participation strategy within Police Scotland, ensuring that services effectively incorporate the voices of children and young people in decision-making processes to meet their diverse needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing a sustainable youth engagement framework that addresses the needs of children and young people as well as the expectations of decision-makers and leaders within the organization.
  • Implementing an evidence-based approach to inform strategic decisions, transformation initiatives, service improvement planning, and engagement activities.
  • Designing the engagement strategy and supporting framework with a focus on children and young people, adhering to best practices in line with the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
