Position Overview

This is a remarkable opportunity to become a part of the Haematology division, focusing on Cancer and related specialties.

Join a well-established, collaborative multidisciplinary team operating within the Anticoagulation clinic. We are seeking to fill either a full-time role or a job share, with coverage from Monday to Friday.

As a vital member of our team, you will oversee the administration of clinics within the anticoagulation department. Your responsibilities will include managing the Did Not Attend (DNA) pathway, organizing weekly lists, and performing general clerical tasks, while also providing assistance to Band 2 clerical staff. The role will also require you to handle referrals from Deep Vein Thrombosis and Thrombosis pathways, maintain spreadsheets and databases, and generate outcome letters from meetings. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with outstanding organizational and communication abilities. A clear understanding of confidentiality issues is essential, along with motivation and reliability. You should be capable of conveying verbal and written information accurately and maintaining composure under pressure.

This Band 3 position offers an excellent chance to gain substantial experience and serves as a great stepping stone for future advancement. We provide support and mentorship to help you develop your skills, along with a comprehensive training package covering NHS systems.

  • Coordination of all clinics within the department
  • Management of the DNA pathway
  • Updating the Anticoagulation database with patient information
  • Handling referrals from within the hospital related to thrombosis, including updating Excel spreadsheets, managing shared inbox emails, preparing for MDT meetings, and organizing letters and filing
  • Arranging follow-up appointments for patients interested in self-testing or requiring a nurse specialist review
  • Ensuring completion of Family and Friends audits
  • Monitoring clinical stock levels and drug cupboard
  • Completing or escalating actions as necessary
  • Prioritizing your workload amidst constantly changing demands to meet agreed deadlines
  • Utilizing your initiative to respond to queries within and outside the organization in a professional manner

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • Good basic level of secondary school education, including Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above

  • Able to perform patient observations, including pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
