Permanent Childcare Lawyer Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Childcare Lawyer to join our dynamic Legal Team at the London Borough of Lewisham. As a Childcare Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in handling a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases, with the opportunity to undertake advocacy in the Central Family Court.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for the Senior Social Care Lawyers
  • Handle a demanding and busy caseload of mainly child protection cases
  • Advise Social Services clients in person and in writing on all aspects of relevant legislation
  • Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload, and in particular prepare a wide variety of court documents
  • Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required
  • Carry out legal research

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years PQE (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx)
  • Hold a current practising certificate
  • Experience in Childcare Law, preferably from a local authority setting
