Our firm is well-known for its esteemed Competition practice, complemented by extensive expertise in Corporate, Financial Institutions, Commercial, and Financing sectors. We also excel in Financial Regulation, Technology, Digital, Data and IP, Tax, Real Estate, Dispute Resolution, Pensions, Employment, and Incentives.

We are structured into diverse groups that manage a wide array of work, promoting collaboration among lawyers on various matters. Much of our work has an international scope, involving transactions with our overseas offices and top independent law firms across multiple jurisdictions.

The cases we handle are typically complex and demanding. We strive to provide associates with significant responsibility and client interaction as they progress in their careers.

Group Structure of Our Competition Practice

Our London-based Competition practice is led by a team of 7 partners, supported by 3 Senior Counsel, and comprises 70 associates and 18 trainees. We are also expanding our teams in Brussels and Hong Kong. As an associate, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with partners from the Competition Group, including those in other countries, allowing you to experience diverse working styles and strategic methodologies.

Our practice is recognized as one of the foremost competition law practices globally, with associates regularly engaged in high-profile work. We manage cartel investigations and other antitrust matters, including advising major corporations on various competition inquiries worldwide, handling merger control aspects of significant transactions, and overseeing multijurisdictional litigation.

The Group addresses a broad spectrum of work within the competition and regulatory domains. Unlike many firms, we encourage associates to maintain a diverse caseload across both contentious and non-contentious matters, aiming for a balanced workload that includes approximately 50% merger control and 50% a mix of cartel investigations, abuse of dominance, state aid, public procurement, regulatory, and other contentious issues.

Depending on the complexity of projects, you may operate independently on certain matters or as part of a larger team. You will also have the chance to build connections beyond your immediate team, as our Competition associates frequently collaborate with Corporate, Disputes, Investigations, and Intellectual Property lawyers, providing clients with comprehensive legal guidance.

With our Competition Group operating from multiple international offices, there are often opportunities for associates to gain experience through client secondments, and all associates are encouraged to explore working in our other offices at the appropriate time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //

The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing advice on a variety of competition law and commercial matters
  • Drafting, reviewing, and amending legal and commercial documentation
  • Building professional relationships with clients
  • Supporting the broader team in business development and enhancing the firm's profile
  • Managing and supervising the work of junior team members, including trainees

CANDIDATE PROFILE //

Ideal candidates for this position should possess:

  • Relevant qualifications (0-6 PQE), preferably acquired in a City or leading international firm, though all applicants will be considered
