Rota Administrator

Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

The Rota Administrator role is situated within the General Surgery & Urology Clinical Business Unit (CBU) and is essential for delivering a professional and supportive rota management service. The individual in this position will oversee the organization and administration of medical staff rotas, ensuring that high-quality patient care is maintained through the effective scheduling of Consultants and Junior Doctors. This includes addressing rota gaps by utilizing both internal and external medical professionals, proactively identifying potential issues, and resolving them systematically.

As the primary rota contact for the CBU, it is crucial to maintain comprehensive oversight of all Consultant and Junior Medical Staff rota templates, implementing necessary adjustments as required. The role necessitates close collaboration with Consultants, Junior Doctors, Clinical Leads, Clinical Directors, management teams, Medical Personnel, and the Medical and Dental Education Department, making strong communication skills vital.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the administration and communication of rotas for Consultants and populate rotas for Junior Doctors across designated specialties, serving as the main point of contact for Junior Doctors within the division.

- Provide daily rota support for both Consultants and Junior Doctors within the General Surgery & Urology department.

- Communicate effectively and diplomatically with all medical staff to ensure adequate coverage for all aspects of the General Surgery & Urology CBU at all times. This includes coordinating all Consultants and Junior Doctor annual and study leave in accordance with Trust Policy, ensuring service needs are met, and arranging cover at short notice for unexpected absences.

- Address sensitive matters, such as sickness absence and compassionate leave, in a timely manner with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Supervisor.

- Implement all departmental rotas in compliance with the Working Time Directive and the New Junior Doctors Contract as established by the Divisional Directors and Medical Workforce.
