Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist

The pediatric unit consists of two primary sections: the Children's Unit, which accommodates a total of 50 beds, including 4 high-dependency beds, and the Children's Observation and Assessment Unit (COAU), featuring 11 cubicles and 11 chairs. This area is dedicated to the continuous assessment of children, ensuring they receive prompt care and either admission to the ward or discharge home.
Both sections experience a high turnover of patients aged from 0 to 16 years, dealing with a diverse range of health issues and surgical needs across various specialties. The ideal candidate will be expected to operate in all designated areas.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate the reception of children and their families to the unit.
- Perform clerical tasks related to the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of patients utilizing various IT systems.
- Engage with children, families, visitors, and colleagues through face-to-face interactions, telephone conversations, or written communication.
- Input patient data into Electronic Patient Records, ensuring the acquisition of relevant electronic wristbands.
- Maintain case notes efficiently, which includes:
- Filing clinical and nursing notes
- Organizing reports
- Submitting for coding
- Schedule follow-up appointments, request necessary investigations, and obtain reports from different departments and outpatient diagnostics as needed.
- Collect and distribute correspondence for staff and patients.
- Collaborate and consult with various departments, both internal and external to the trust, including nursing staff, consultants, medical doctors, patient services, matrons, health visitors, social workers, and ambulance services, to enhance the service provided to children and their families.

Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesDUTIES
- Assist in the reception of patients and their relatives to the units.
- Conduct clerical duties related to patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Enter patient information into the Electronic Patient Records system and obtain relevant electronic wristbands.
- Communicate with patients, visitors, and colleagues through various channels to ensure the effective operation of the unit.
- Ensure the efficient maintenance of case notes, including:
- i) Filing clinical and nursing notes
- ii) Organizing investigation reports
- iii) Submitting for coding
- Collaborate with other departments, both internal and external to the Trust, such as Patient Services, Community Matrons, Social Workers, Health Visitors, and Ambulance Services, to enhance patient service delivery.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and request outpatient diagnostics as necessary.
- Manage general office tasks, including filing and photocopying.
- Organize and facilitate meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
- Maintain diaries and arrange appointments.
- Manage databases effectively.
- Relevant clerical experience, typically 6 months.
- Grade D/ Level 3 in English and Maths or equivalent.
- Proficient keyboard and computer skills.
- Proven ability to comprehend and adhere to detailed procedures.
- Clear and precise written and verbal communication, along with effective listening skills.
- Willingness to provide reasonable flexibility in work hours, including weekends.
- Adaptability to the evolving needs of the service.
- Demonstrate a friendly and caring approach.
- Proven capability to work collaboratively within a team and support team members.
