Overview of the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Town Planner to enhance our planning division at Head Office. In this role, you will report directly to the Planning Director and manage a diverse portfolio of sites aimed at securing planning approvals for various projects, including new service stations and mixed-use developments.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the discharge of planning conditions and resolving enforcement matters efficiently. You will collaborate with consultants across multiple disciplines to facilitate development through the planning process and ensure compliance with post-approval requirements. Additionally, you will assist with administrative functions within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct planning reviews in collaboration with the Acquisitions team and project managers.
  • Prepare site evaluations for new opportunities, incorporating policy analysis and planning history to assess site viability.
  • Provide timely planning advice to the business regarding emerging policies.
  • Organize initial meetings to discuss project strategies.
  • Advise on the selection of consultant teams and appropriate firms.
  • Identify and address specific planning challenges with consultants and project managers, offering guidance on project implications.
  • Manage in-house planning applications where feasible.
  • Work alongside project managers to navigate planning challenges and develop strategies for approval.
  • Participate in review meetings with the consultant team and project managers as necessary.
  • Review draft planning conditions and provide technical advice to project managers.
  • Attend planning meetings, including committee sessions when required.
  • Oversee the submission and management of condition discharges, coordinating with relevant managers.
  • Handle enforcement matters internally.
  • Mentor and develop junior planners to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Manage the appeals process effectively.
  • Oversee S.73 applications, ensuring proper submission and management.
  • Conduct reviews of consultant frameworks.
