Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Town Planner to enhance our planning department. This role involves overseeing a diverse portfolio of properties aimed at securing planning approvals for various developments, including roadside services and mixed-use projects.
As a key member of the planning team, you will report directly to the Head of Planning. Your responsibilities will include managing planning applications, addressing compliance issues, and ensuring timely responses to enforcement matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planning reviews in collaboration with the Acquisitions team and Project Managers.
- Prepare site evaluations for new development opportunities, including policy assessments and planning history.
- Provide timely planning advice to the organization regarding emerging policies.
- Facilitate initial meetings to discuss planning strategies.
- Advise on the selection of consultant teams and relevant disciplines.
- Identify and resolve specific planning challenges in partnership with consultants and Project Managers.
- Manage in-house planning applications where feasible.
- Collaborate with Project Managers on planning strategies to achieve approvals.
- Participate in review meetings with consultants and Project Managers as necessary.
- Review and provide guidance on draft planning conditions.
- Attend relevant planning meetings, including committee sessions.
- Oversee the submission and management of condition discharges.
- Handle enforcement matters internally.
- Mentor and develop junior planners to enhance their skills.
- Manage the appeals process effectively.
- Oversee S.73 applications and their management.
- Conduct reviews of consultant frameworks.
