This is a vacancy within the Head Office.

Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Senior Town Planner to become a vital part of our property division at Head Office.

Reporting directly to the Planning Director, you will manage a diverse portfolio of properties aimed at securing planning approvals for various projects, including new service stations and mixed-use developments. Additionally, you will handle the discharge of planning conditions and manage enforcement matters efficiently.

Your role will involve coordinating with consultants across multiple disciplines to facilitate development through the planning stages and subsequent requirements. You will also assist with administrative responsibilities within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct planning reviews in collaboration with the Acquisitions team and Project Managers.
  • Prepare site evaluations for new opportunities, including policy assessments and planning history, to advise on site developability.
  • Provide timely planning advice to the business regarding emerging policies.
  • Organize kickoff meetings.
  • Advise on the selection of consultant teams and appropriate firms.
  • Identify and address specific planning challenges with consultants and Project Managers, providing guidance on project implications.
  • Manage in-house planning applications where applicable.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on planning issues and strategies for securing approvals.
  • Participate in review meetings with consultants and Project Managers as necessary.
  • Review draft planning conditions and inform Project Managers of technical planning issues.
  • Attend planning meetings, including committee sessions when relevant.
  • Oversee the submission and management of Condition Discharge, coordinating with the Highway Manager and Project Manager.
  • Handle in-house enforcement management.
  • Mentor and develop the Graduate Planner to enhance their performance.
  • Manage the appeals process.
  • Submit and oversee S.73 applications.
  • Conduct reviews of the consultant framework.
