Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council is seeking to appoint a Youth Support Specialist to enhance our team.

This position is available on a full-time, permanent basis, offering a competitive salary range of £29,269 - £33,945 per annum (pro rata for part-time roles).

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a vital role in our Independent Living Service, focusing on the delivery of Disabled Facility and Minor Adaptation Grants.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting means assessments
  • Assisting with the application process
  • Reviewing quotes
  • Providing financial guidance
  • Exploring charitable funding options when necessary

Occasionally, you may be required to visit clients at their residences to offer additional assistance.

As a Youth Support Specialist, you will serve as the primary contact for grant applicants throughout the application process, ensuring they receive high-quality support, advice, and expertise.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal applicant will possess an NVQ Level 4 or an equivalent qualification, or demonstrate relevant experience in assisting vulnerable populations.

Essential skills include:

  • Up-to-date knowledge in means testing
  • Recent experience in a comparable role
  • Strong administrative and organizational capabilities

Familiarity with Disabled Facility Grants is advantageous; however, candidates without this knowledge should be willing to undergo training.

Effective prioritization of tasks and the ability to manage your own caseload while supporting team members is crucial.

Additional Information:

This role necessitates travel to clients' homes, thus a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.
