Key Responsibilities
In the role of Manager for Youth Transition Services, you will be instrumental in shaping the futures of young individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Suffolk.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading a comprehensive review to ensure the four essential components of Preparing for Adulthood, as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice, are integrated into the Local Area Partnership to assist children and young people with SEND in their transition to adulthood. Collaborating with stakeholders across the council, Integrated Care Board, educational institutions, and community organizations to support children and young people with SEND in their transition to adulthood. Ensuring that the perspectives of children and young people with SEND inform enhancements to services. Partnering with Further Education Colleges, sixth forms, and Post-16 Education to develop support systems for children and young people with SEND. Working towards reducing the number of young individuals not engaged in education, employment, or training. Maintaining and updating the Suffolk Local Offer website with essential information to provide direct resources to children and young people with SEND and their families. Delivering training and orientation on Preparing for Adulthood principles.Your dedication to making a difference will drive service enhancements and foster positive outcomes for young individuals with SEND as they transition into adulthood.
Required Qualifications
Proven leadership and interpersonal capabilities. In-depth understanding of SEND legislation and policies. Experience in effectively managing relevant services. Ability to influence, motivate, and inspire staff and colleagues. Strong project management and problem-solving skills. About the Team
You will be joining our SEND Services team within the Inclusion department of Suffolk County Council. We collaborate with other Inclusion functions such as Special Education Services, SEND Funding and Provider Services, and Psychological and Therapeutic Services. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that young individuals with SEND receive the support they need as they transition into adulthood, helping them to achieve their potential and lead fulfilling, independent lives.
