As a key member of the project management team, you will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager to ensure the effective and safe execution of strategic capital maintenance initiatives. Your role will involve engaging with external partners, internal teams, and various stakeholders to contribute to Southern Water's investment strategy, focusing on asset resilience and customer supply.

This position offers the opportunity to work on significant capital maintenance projects with substantial budgets, presenting a rewarding challenge for a driven Project Management Assistant eager to deliver exceptional value to our customers while supporting environmental improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present regular progress updates to stakeholders, emphasizing key developments, challenges, and risks.
  • Serve as a liaison for operations, principal contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication.
  • Organize and participate in coordination meetings to align all parties involved.
  • Oversee project activities to ensure adherence to industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Assist in quality control inspections, promptly addressing any defects or issues.
  • Identify potential risks and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Support the Project Manager in resolving conflicts and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Aid in the procurement of necessary materials, equipment, and services.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Uphold health and safety standards on-site, fostering a safe working environment.
  • Provide assistance to project team members, helping to resolve challenges and ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Manage various administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, preparing documentation, and maintaining project records.
  • Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of project data within management systems.

About You:

We are looking for candidates with a strong organizational background and effective communication skills, preferably within the Water, Utilities, or Engineering sectors. A foundational qualification in Project Management (e.g., APM Project Management Fundamentals) is desirable, but we are willing to support your development in this area.

Package:

This is a full-time position, operating Monday to Friday for 37 hours per week. Southern Water embraces a hybrid working model.
