Job Title: Lead Consultant – Engineering Assurance

Location: Various locations with flexible working arrangements available. Salary: Competitive remuneration package. Role Overview:

As a Lead Consultant in Engineering Assurance, you will:

  • Deliver independent Level 3 Assurance to the Engineering Authority (EA) concerning the establishment, upkeep, and reliability of all engineering assurance executed by those appointed by the EA.
  • Plan and execute independent Level 3 Assurance activities relevant to the assigned Product, mindful of resource constraints by employing a risk-based methodology.
  • Ensure that engineering products are integrated, safe, and fully compliant with the established requirements, demonstrating that hazards are managed to be As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), while also being cost-effective and clearly defined.
  • Verify that Design Reviews and Technical Bid Reviews are carried out to provide an independent evaluation.
  • Effectively communicate the outcomes of Assurance activities, including reviews, audits, and investigations, to various stakeholders, including board members, senior management, clients, and colleagues.
  • Engage in technical report writing and represent the department in meetings.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in Submarine Systems, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, and Naval Architecture Engineering/Quality domains.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the organization and structure of Submarine engineering, along with the integration of various engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in stakeholder management.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Status.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in engineering/quality assurance.

About the EPAD Team:

As a Lead Engineering Consultant, you will be part of the Engineering Product Assurance Department (EPAD), reporting to the Principal Engineering Manager for Level 3 Assurance. EPAD is a multi-disciplinary team focused on Engineering Assurance, providing independent judgment to the Engineering Authority regarding the establishment, maintenance, and robustness of all engineering assurance executed by those delegated by the EA.
