Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Nurse Leader to join our team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing professional leadership and management within our Ophthalmic Outpatients department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and work as part of the Ward/Department team, providing professional leadership and management within the work environment.
  • Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC code of Professional conduct and work within limits of competence.
  • Participate in the daily personal care of patients, demonstrating specialist knowledge and acting as a resource and role model for the clinical team.
  • Have overall responsibility for the ward area, ensuring that accurate records are kept of all care given in the Ward/Department.
  • Act as the key person in the coordination and communication of complex, sensitive, emotional, condition-related issues to patients, relatives, and to the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Takes the lead role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized, evidence-based patient care, including the monitoring of care standards through audit and other activities.
  • Effectively and professionally deals with emergency situations and debriefs staff where appropriate, ensuring support is available.
  • Establish and promote a safe, clean, therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Develop a positive team culture and manage recruitment and retention of the workforce.
  • Demonstrate and promote professional, clinical, and managerial leadership, acting as a resource and providing guidance to own staff.
  • Ensure effective liaison and professional relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC Register.
  • Extensive post-registration experience, including significant experience within relevant speciality at Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Excellent motivational, leadership, and role model qualities.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People-focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.
