We are excited to announce a rewarding opportunity for a Manager of Children's Residential Services, representing a dynamic and expanding organization.

Key Information:

Salary: Starting from £60,000 per annum, with potential earnings up to £80,000 – Full-time

Salary: Negotiable for the ideal candidate

Shift and Schedule: Availability on weekends and Monday to Friday

About the Organization:

We operate Ofsted Registered children's homes across the North West, focusing on therapeutic care. We are in search of a qualified Registered Manager to lead our new facility, which will provide care for up to 2 young individuals.

Qualifications Required:

  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted regulated children's home with a 'good' rating or higher
  • Experience working with children and young people facing challenges, including mental health and emotional difficulties
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children in the last 5 years, including 1 year in a senior role
  • Experience in supervision or management
  • Background in a residential setting and inter-agency collaboration

Knowledge Base:

Comprehensive understanding of current legislation, including The Children's Homes England Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015, the Children's Act 1989, and the Children Act 2004.

  • Ability to lead a team and foster a child-centered therapeutic environment
  • Empathetic, dedicated, and passionate about supporting young people from diverse backgrounds

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee service management, including staff supervision, care planning, safeguarding, communication, report writing, and compliance monitoring
  • Implement and provide feedback on statutory and organizational policies
  • Develop constructive community relationships to enhance outcomes for looked-after children
  • Ensure staff possess the necessary skills and qualifications
  • Inspire both children and staff within the home
  • Produce monitoring reports and statistical data
  • Embed principles of equality and diversity within the home's culture
  • Maintain professional relationships with multi-agency partners and stakeholders

Specific Duties:

Service Delivery:

  • Incorporate the home's ethos into service delivery and engage service users in daily operations
  • Manage safeguarding, risk, and service governance
  • Ensure access to health, education, social, psychological, and emotional services for children and young people
  • Plan and deliver services tailored to the needs of all children and young people
  • Monitor outcomes and progress

People Management:

  • Supervise and support the staff team
  • Provide practice-based consultations and management supervision
  • Oversee recruitment in accordance with policies
  • Coach and develop staff in line with statutory training requirements
  • Manage staffing structures and work schedules
  • Induct and brief staff on care planning systems

Resource Management:

  • Maintain physical assets and ensure the safety of the premises
  • Manage the budget effectively
  • Adhere to central ICT policies
  • Coordinate and monitor administrative functions

Business Development:

  • Lead contract management and placements with commissioners
  • Develop and deliver services in line with service agreements
  • Identify and manage growth opportunities

Quality and Service Development:

  • Conduct quality monitoring and health & safety assessments
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Manage complaints and promote continuous service improvement
  • Maintain readiness for inspections and foster good relationships with inspectors
  • Submit Quality of Care Reports and oversee monthly visits

Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies for operating a residential children's home
  • Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and children's rights
  • Knowledge of care and placement planning, risk assessment, and the needs of looked-after children
