Alarm Communications Limited is a prominent provider of fire safety solutions, security systems, and building management services, headquartered in Surrey. Our clientele includes a range of prestigious establishments, such as luxury hotels, sports venues, and educational institutions throughout Greater London. We are currently seeking a dedicated Trainee Fire & Security Technician to support our operations in Central London.

Compensation: Apprentices will receive remuneration in line with National Living Wage rates, adjusted for age and apprenticeship progression.

Role Overview:

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the routine maintenance and installation of various security systems, including intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and fire alarm systems. Trainees will work closely with experienced engineers and will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Ensuring the highest standards in the maintenance of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
  • Conducting regular service checks on fire and intruder alarm systems.
  • Providing detailed reports to facilitate accurate quotations for additional work.
  • Maintaining professional conduct and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Keeping precise and detailed records of completed tasks.
  • Completing the Fire & Security Systems Qualification.

Training and Development:

  • To achieve full qualification as a Fire & Security Engineer, you will gain practical experience while enrolled in a comprehensive 3-year educational program.
  • The training course consists of block releases, with one week dedicated to each block.
  • Throughout the 3-year period, there will be 14 block releases during which you will attend college.
  • Successful completion of the Level 3 End Point Assessment (EPA) will require passing both theoretical and practical examinations.

  • A Level or BTEC qualifications. An electrical qualification or similar is advantageous but not essential.

  • Self-motivated individuals capable of managing their workload and coursework effectively.
  • A full, manual UK driving license is required. If you do not currently hold a full license, you must aim to obtain it within the first 18 months of employment.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4 or above are mandatory.
  • This role involves regional travel, including travel in and out of London. Candidates must reside within specified postcodes.
