Alarm Communications Limited is a prominent provider in the fields of fire safety, security systems, and building management solutions. Our operations are centered in Surrey, serving a prestigious clientele that includes high-end hotels, sports venues, and educational institutions throughout Greater London. We are seeking to onboard a new Trainee Fire & Security Technician to support our operations in Central London.

Compensation: Trainees will receive remuneration in line with National Living Wage standards, which may vary based on age and apprenticeship progression.

Role Overview:

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the routine maintenance and installation of small-scale projects, including call-outs and standby duties for Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Access Control, and Fire Alarm systems. Trainees will work closely with experienced Engineers and contribute to the following tasks:

  • Upholding the highest standards in the maintenance of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems, representing the engineering division of Alarm Communications.
  • Conducting regular servicing of fire and intruder alarm systems.
  • Providing detailed information to facilitate accurate estimates for chargeable work.
  • Maintaining exemplary conduct and delivering superior customer service.
  • Keeping precise and detailed records of completed work.
  • Completing the Fire & Security Systems Qualification.

Training and Development:

  • To achieve full qualification as a Fire & Security Technician, you will engage in both practical on-the-job training and a structured 3-year educational program.
  • The educational component consists of block releases, with one week dedicated to each block.
  • There will be a total of 14 block releases over the 3-year period, during which you will attend college.
  • To finalize your Level 3 End Point Assessment (EPA), you must successfully pass both a theoretical and practical examination.

  • Possession of A Level or BTEC qualifications. An electrical qualification or similar is advantageous but not essential.

  • A valid UK Manual Driving License is required. If not currently held, candidates must strive to obtain it within the first 18 months of employment.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4 or above are mandatory.
  • This role necessitates regional travel, including journeys in and out of London.
