Company Overview: Alarm Communications Limited is a prominent provider of fire safety, security solutions, and building management systems, headquartered in Surrey. Our clientele includes esteemed establishments such as luxury hotels, sports venues, and educational institutions throughout Greater London. We are currently seeking a new Trainee Fire & Security Technician to support our operations in Central London.

Compensation: Trainees will receive remuneration in line with National Living Wage standards, adjusted for age and apprenticeship progression.

Role Responsibilities:

The primary focus of this position is to assist in the routine maintenance and installation of fire and security systems, including responding to service calls and standby duties. Trainees will work closely with experienced engineers and will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Conducting regular service checks on fire and security systems.
  • Providing accurate information for quoting additional services.
  • Maintaining professionalism and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Keeping precise records of all completed work.
  • Completing the Fire & Security Systems Qualification.

Training and Development:

  • To become a fully qualified Fire & Security Technician, you will gain hands-on experience while participating in a structured 3-year educational program.
  • The training will involve block releases, with one week dedicated to each block.
  • Throughout the 3-year period, there will be 14 block releases for college attendance.
  • To achieve your Level 3 End Point Assessment (EPA), you must successfully pass both theoretical and practical examinations.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for individuals who embody the values of Alarm Communications, including a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a professional demeanor. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Level or BTEC qualifications; an electrical background is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • A detail-oriented approach to tasks.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and reliability.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage workload effectively.
  • A full, manual UK driving license; candidates without a license must aim to obtain one within the first 18 months of employment.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
  • Willingness to travel regionally, including commuting in and out of London.
