Job Overview

Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel is seeking a highly skilled HSE Design and CDM Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental management in our design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for project team members on design risk management and CDM best practices.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to create a project-specific Design Risk Management Plan, outlining deliverables and ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
  • Evaluate the competency of designers and provide recommendations to clients on their suitability for projects.
  • Audit design risk documentation and provide expert advice on areas for improvement.
  • Support designers in identifying and mitigating design risks to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) standards.
  • Work closely with Principal Designers to ensure effective collaboration between designers and address key interface issues.
  • Contribute to the development of the project's Health and Safety File.
  • Identify gaps in the client's CDM process and assist in updating it to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • UK-based with flexibility and willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally to Denmark.
  • Relevant technical background and education.
  • Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental product safety.
  • Practical experience with CDM 2015 regulations and training experience.
  • Recommended 5 years of relevant work experience in design risk management.
  • Knowledge of design standards, country legislations, Temporary Workplace Directive, and product development.
  • Experience with tools used to address design risks, such as design risk assessments, hazid/hazops, qualitative, and quantitative assessments.
  • Strong QHSE role model with a cooperative and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Caring and honest, with a human touch and ability to motivate teams.
