About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic CDM Principal Designer to join our team at Building Design Partnership. As an Associate Level Principal Designer, you will play a key role in managing the CDM PD team and providing competent advice and guidance on construction and design health and safety matters to colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Group CDM Director in managing the CDM PD team and providing guidance on health and safety matters.
  • Provide CDM PD guidance and advice to internal design teams and clients from the outset of the design and pre-construction stages of projects.
  • Deliver excellence, drive quality, and add value in all tasks and deliverables within the role scope.
  • Support in-house and external design teams in the implementation of safety in design and design risk management strategies.
  • Coordinate design team meetings, assist clients in developing health and safety arrangements, and provide workshops and seminars on client duties.
  • Review design risk assessments, attend and chair design team meetings, and review relevant health and safety files.
  • Ensure suitable arrangements for the coordination of health and safety measures during planning and preparation of the Construction Phase.
  • Provide guidance and support for other Duty Holders and collaborate with other design disciplines.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction stage, share CDM knowledge across all professions, and develop and deliver CDM training programs.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate / Construction qualification and Design/Construction qualification and experience.
  • Extensive years of experience within a similar position, demonstrating a strong construction background, design knowledge, and familiarity with construction health and safety.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills and an interpersonal style that enables you to excel in a direct client-facing role.
  • 3 years UK Employment History and Criminal Record.
