About the Role

Building Design Partnership (BDP) is seeking a highly experienced and competent CDM Principal Designer to join our thriving team. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute your expertise in design and construction to a global award-winning multidisciplinary practice.

As a CDM Principal Designer, you will provide essential support and guidance to BDP's multidisciplinary design teams and clients throughout the design and pre-construction phases of diverse projects. Your role is crucial in ensuring compliance with statutory duties under the CDM Regulations 2015.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the pre-construction phase, driving risk reduction, communication, and cooperation across all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the seamless transition from design to construction, ensuring a smooth handover process.
  • Oversee the production of comprehensive health and safety files, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Provide expert CDM support, advice, and guidance to both internal teams and clients, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Collaborate effectively with various design disciplines, planning, managing, and coordinating health and safety measures during the pre-construction stage.
  • Share your in-depth CDM knowledge across all professions within BDP's London studio and other UK studios through training programs, workshops, and CPD events.

About You

You possess a strong understanding of construction practices, design principles, and health and safety regulations. Your excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) enable you to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike. You thrive in collaborative environments and consistently deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • NEBOSH General Certificate / Construction qualification and relevant design/construction experience.
  • Membership of IOSH and APS.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of construction health and safety practices.
  • A track record of successfully managing CDM projects from inception to completion.
