Job Overview

Qualified Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) / Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) – Band 5

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are dedicated to assisting children, adolescents, and their families linked to specific educational institutions. Each designated MHST collaborates with schools and various organizations to serve a community of up to 7,000 young individuals. Established in Kent, the initiative aims to enhance early access to mental health services and provide robust preventative measures.

Our collaboration with educational institutions focuses on fostering a Whole School Approach (WSA) to emotional wellbeing and mental health, alongside integrating mental health education into the curriculum.

Available Positions

We have openings in various regions, including:

  • Dartford
  • Swale
  • Medway
  • Maidstone

Candidates will have the opportunity to express their preferences during the interview process.

Main Responsibilities

The primary duties include:

  • Conducting assessments and providing treatment for children and young people within the MHST's core functions: Targeted Intervention, Whole School Approach, and Consultation and Liaison.
  • Collaborating with a designated number of schools to implement essential service components.
  • Actively participating in local and county-wide meetings and supervision forums.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about participation and service enhancement, as we engage in various research and co-production initiatives. Successful candidates will be encouraged to develop their skills and explore exciting career opportunities within MHST services.

Working with NELFT NHS Foundation Trust

At NELFT, we prioritize a thorough onboarding process for new employees. All new hires will participate in a comprehensive induction program that includes mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. This program also offers opportunities to meet senior management and engage in sessions focused on employee wellbeing and essential processes.

We provide an extensive local induction, including service welcome meetings, team introductions, and shadowing opportunities across various settings.

Probationary Period

This position is subject to a probationary period, with internal applicants exempt unless currently undergoing probation or employed as bank staff.

Flexible Working Arrangements

We are open to considering part-time hours (30 hours or more) and flexible working patterns, evaluated on a case-by-case basis to support a healthy work-life balance.
