About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join our dynamic theatre team at James Paget University Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a department undergoing significant transformation, with the addition of new orthopaedic elective hub theatres and robotic surgery capabilities.

As a Band 5 ODP, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care throughout their perioperative journey. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise to ensure smooth and efficient theatre operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative care to patients across various specialities, including General Surgery, Colorectal, Breast, Gynaecological, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics, Trauma, Orthopaedics, and Maternity.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain a high level of clinical knowledge and expertise in your designated speciality areas.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures across different surgical disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the theatre environment.

About You

You will be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. We encourage newly qualified practitioners to apply, as we offer a comprehensive preceptorship programme to support your professional development.
