Therapy Support Practitioner
Position Overview
BAND 4 THERAPY SUPPORT PRACTITIONER - CARDIO-RESPIRATORY/SURGERY (CRS) (Up to hours per week)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Support Practitioner to become part of our dedicated and progressive Therapy Team.
We are in search of individuals who can deliver assigned treatment and rehabilitation services to patients, assisting them in their timely discharge from the acute care setting. You will manage your own clinical caseload and perform assessments under the guidance of both Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. This role will provide you with experience across our Respiratory, Surgical, and Cardiac wards, collaborating with a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Our team is innovative and continuously seeks ways to enhance patient care and service delivery. We are particularly focused on expanding our lung ultrasound services and developing new roles within the Intensive Care Unit. This presents a fantastic opportunity for our Therapy Support Practitioners to advance and evolve within their clinical roles as integral members of the team. We are especially interested in candidates who share our enthusiasm for service enhancement and elevating the profile of Therapy Support Practitioners to improve patient outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive candidates who wish to contribute as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will play a crucial role in collecting information from patients and their families/caregivers to understand their social, environmental, and living conditions, as well as the effects of their illness or surgery on daily activities. You will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients, providing therapy and rehabilitation for a variety of conditions that may affect patients both physically and psychologically. You will design and implement functional and cognitive interventions to assist patients in achieving their objectives, providing adaptive equipment and aids, and assessing treatment outcomes.
Additionally, you will facilitate patient flow throughout the hospital by conducting timely assessments and planning discharges as part of each patient's recovery journey to prevent delays. This will involve liaising with and referring to appropriate agencies as necessary. You will also perform administrative tasks to support the department's operations.
In return, we aim to provide suitable candidates with a supportive and friendly work environment within a team that welcomes new ideas. Opportunities for learning and collaboration with the broader multidisciplinary team will be available and strongly encouraged.
Core working hours are flexible, and you will be part of our seven-day roster.
