Position Overview

The Senior Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role in the strategic and analytical reporting within our organization. This position requires a deep understanding of business case studies and the ability to collaborate effectively with various business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of financial performance, generating detailed reports and insights for project managers and business unit leaders to track profitability against established budgets and suggest necessary corrective measures.
  • Provide essential costing information to project managers and facilitate finance reviews of proposals, ensuring timely issuance of bids and contracts.
  • Prepare and analyze month-end financial statements, ensuring precise recognition of expenditures and revenues in line with Rullion's financial policies. Collaborate closely with your designated business area and the wider finance team.
  • Assist in the business budgeting and forecasting processes, fostering productive relationships with project managers and senior management to develop robust budgets and periodic forecasts at both project and consolidated business unit levels.
  • Generate formal financial reports for clients and coordinate with auditors to ensure timely payments for services rendered.
  • Maintain a strong control environment, taking responsibility for relevant balance sheet accounts, such as prepayments, accruals, Work in Progress, and Income in Advance, ensuring they are fully reconciled with adequate documentation for audit purposes.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Project Accountant to report on capital expenditures and provide clear commentary to clarify spending and address variances.

Support Initiatives

Engage in finance-wide initiatives, including the testing of new reporting tools and system upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified, qualified by experience, or actively pursuing a qualification from a recognized professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).

Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience in commercial accounting, project costing, and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with business case studies.
  • Expertise in strategic and analytical reporting.
  • Experience working closely with business teams in a partnership capacity.
  • Understanding of revenue recognition principles.
  • Awareness of multi-funding control requirements.
  • High proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP accounting systems (Unit 4 (Agresso) is a plus).
  • Able to meet challenging deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong team player.
