Position Overview
The Senior Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role in delivering strategic financial insights and analytical reporting. This position requires a strong background in commercial accounting and project financial management, particularly in the context of business case evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of financial performance, generating detailed reports and commentary for project managers and business unit leaders to facilitate effective monitoring of profitability against budget.
- Provide essential costing information to project managers and finance teams, ensuring timely preparation of bids and contracts.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of month-end financial statements, ensuring compliance with Rullion's financial policies and accurate recognition of expenditures and revenues.
- Assist in the business budgeting and forecasting processes, fostering strong relationships with project and senior managers to develop comprehensive budgets and forecasts at both project and consolidated business unit levels.
- Generate formal financial reports for clients and collaborate with auditors to ensure timely payment for services rendered.
- Maintain a robust control environment, ensuring that balance sheet accounts such as prepayments, accruals, and Work in Progress are accurately reconciled and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Collaborate with the Capital Project Accountant to report on capital expenditures and provide clear commentary on spending and variances.
Finance Initiatives
Support company-wide finance initiatives, including the testing of new reporting tools and system upgrades.
Qualifications
- Part-qualified or qualified by experience in a relevant professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial accounting, project costing, and financial forecasting.
- Familiarity with business case studies and strategic analytical reporting.
- Experience working in a business partner capacity with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of revenue recognition principles and multi-funding control requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP accounting systems, with a preference for Unit 4 (Agresso).
- Able to manage challenging timelines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills.
