About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Therapy Support Specialist to join our Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in facilitating the early supported discharge of stroke patients and providing rehabilitation to patients with neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out rehabilitation programmes directed by Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Nurses, with regular reviews of patient goals and progression of rehabilitation programmes.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, service development, and housekeeping activities.
  • Work collaboratively with a comprehensive multidisciplinary team to deliver a high-quality service to patients.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required.

Requirements

  • English fluency and GCSE Maths.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or allied health professional setting.
  • Understanding of the day-to-day role of a Therapy Assistant and awareness of the roles of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech and Language Therapists, Nurses, and Clinical Psychologists.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Service over 7 days.
  • Willingness to train as an Assistant and develop knowledge/skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Able to tolerate sustained physical effort for the majority of duties (moving and handling patients).
  • Car driver with access to a car.
