About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Allied Health Professionals and Nursing to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and developing the AHP and nursing workforce within the Division to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care that meets the needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, inspire and develop the AHP and nursing workforce within the Division to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Ensure the Division has a comprehensive, progressive and sufficiently robust system of internal control in place to implement and monitor the Patient First Strategy.
  • Support the Chief Nursing Officer with the delivery of a wider corporate AHP and nursing and quality agenda.
  • Have shared accountability for the operational performance and strategic development of the Division with the Chief Operating Officer and the Divisional Triumvirate Team.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the Care Quality Commission's regulations and that the fundamentals of care standards are delivered effectively within the Division.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Registered and practising nurse with current live HCPC or NMC registration.
  • Degree in a relevant clinical or nursing subject.
  • Masters Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience, supplemented by evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Ability to analyse complex and sensitive problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions.
  • High-level problem-solving approach, proactive and resourceful, professional, negotiation, interpersonal, administrative, analytical, advocacy, training and counselling skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic priorities and to organise staff and resources to achieve high-quality patient care and delivery of healthcare targets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and professionals.
  • Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering significant change and performance with and through multiple and diverse clinical teams.
  • Experience of managing care group-wide operational teams, targets and budgets.
  • Experience in providing advice on complex professional issues to the executive/non-executive team and all other levels of the organisation, external agencies and stakeholders.
  • Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnerships.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to positively interact in difficult, highly emotive and potentially hostile situations.
  • Advanced planning and organisational skills - able to lead/organise multiple projects ensuring timely delivery of goals and milestones.
