About the Role

Cedar Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to join our team in the MEP sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading all commercial aspects of our rail infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the work winning team in reviewing and identifying risks and accountabilities within tender packs and contractual terms and conditions.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies for pre and post tender.
  • Take a leading role in transitioning projects from tender to live.
  • Determine the scope of work and contractual obligations through the interpretation of contract documents.
  • Advise the business on standard forms of contracts used for construction projects.
  • Identify and manage commercial risk on new and existing contracts.
  • Quantify and cost infrastructure/M&E works.
  • Ensure contract compliance and performance.
  • Prepare and implement contract management processes.
  • Explain contract conditions that identify variations to contracts.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients and suppliers.
  • Negotiate contract agreements and manage potential contractual obligations.
  • Administer contracts, providing advice on contractual matters and formulating contractual/legal correspondence.
  • Manage financial and commercial control, including profit and loss, cash flow, KPI, CVR, and Cost to Complete statements.
  • Work with Sector Managers/Directors to ensure projects exceed commercial targets.
  • Develop and present accurate Management Information (MI) to senior management.
  • Support the SQS'/Project teams on budgets to determine accurate commercial forecasting.
  • Perform continuous programme analysis, identifying potential delays and risks.
  • Liaise with the Procurement team for supply chain engagement and subcontract administration.
  • Provide timely information on the growth of anticipated Final Account value.
  • Ensure compliance with safety initiatives and participate in meeting safety targets.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Senior QS or Commercial Manager.
  • Proven experience in client management.
  • Proven experience in negotiation.
  • Previous experience working in a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Previous experience working on large MEP projects.
  • Previous experience working in the M&E sector.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC contracts (all options).
  • Demonstratable knowledge of Construction law and standard forms of contract.
  • Knowledge of Engineering and client standards.
  • Understanding of valuation techniques, including elemental cost analysis.
  • Experience in tendering and pre-contract cost analysis.
  • Understanding of conflict avoidance, conflict management, and dispute resolution.
