Clinical Nurse Expert in Nutrition Support
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Expert to become a vital member of the nutritional support team dedicated to the care of patients requiring specialized nutritional interventions, both in clinical settings and at home.
This well-established team boasts a commendable history of delivering high-quality care.
While prior experience in this specialty is advantageous, this role can also serve as a developmental opportunity, offering support for skill enhancement, which may encompass medication prescribing (initial banding may reflect this).
This is a full-time position that will involve participation in clinical consultations, ward assessments, and providing telephonic support to patients, as well as collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in both hospital and community settings.
Working with a diverse patient demographic will necessitate a flexible approach to your duties.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments for patients requiring nutritional support.
- Engage in ward assessments from Monday to Friday.
- Assist the Clinical Lead in reviewing patients receiving home care.
- Support the monitoring of home care patients and coordinate with home care providers as necessary.
- Provide training assistance to ward staff as required.
- Prepare patients for discharge.
- Evaluate patients referred from other healthcare facilities.
- Collaborate with the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Manage the patient database, ensuring accuracy and currency of data.
- Participate in patient care audits.

Job Responsibilities
- Deliver an autonomous nutrition support service across the acute Trust, acting as an expert in the clinical field to provide specialized services to a defined patient group.
- Offer interdisciplinary education, training, and guidance (both formal and informal) to patients, staff, and students.
- Strategically influence the development of nutrition support services at both local and national levels.
- Lead clinical audits within your area of expertise.
- Facilitate and engage in research initiatives within the specialized field.
- Innovate and lead nursing practices in nutrition support both within the Trust and through local networks.
