We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Advisor - Lead Nurse to join our team at Berkshire Health Limited. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will be responsible for leading our clinic and advanced practice service, providing expert professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues, and maintaining clinical excellence.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead Clinical Practice
- Act as a role model and clinical expert, demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to others.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge, being visible and accessible to staff, patients, and their carers and relatives.
- Provide non-medical prescribing responsibility for the clinic, according to NMC guidelines, within clinical competence.
- Work in accordance with the NMC rules of professional conduct and within local care pathways, policies, and standards.
- Provide a level of advanced comprehensive health assessment based on a specialist body of knowledge.
- Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice, and support across the service.
- Actively encourage multidisciplinary approaches to care.
- Actively contribute and lead clinical service meetings.
- Act as the patient advocate when informed discussion is being made concerning treatment options.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new communication systems, such as the electronic patient record.
- Contribute and support organisational development and change as necessary.
- Be responsible for medicine management at BHL.
- Contribute to audit and evaluation of the service.
- Actively lead on service improvement through Clinical Audit and Research in their own area.
- Actively propose and contribute to the development of policies within BHL.
- Ensure that individual staff members have an up-to-date appraisal and development plan.
- Support other team members to develop their own leadership and clinical skills.
- Ensure adequate staffing to support clinics with the right skill mix.
- Monitor daily clinical operations.
- Monitor absence, do rota & approve AL for clinical team.
- Demonstrate the ability to motivate individuals/team.
- Train new staff.
- Ensure the team is aware of their targets, performance, and goals.
- Actively engage in the teaching, mentorship, and supervision of clinical staff.
- Ensure all competencies are completed and staff is up to date with all their mandatory training.
- Lead the development and management of Clinical Nurse Specialist/outpatient services at BHL, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective care.
- Monitor the use of supplies and equipment, ensuring that it is regularly checked and maintained.
- Scope and develop one-stop clinics, develop care pathways.
- Lead the development of patient-focused education, including training to self-manage ongoing treatment.
- Promote patient and public experience feedback to drive innovation and change.
- Lead on the acute care pathway, including sepsis, anaphylaxis, and resuscitation.
- Facilitate Resus scenarios.
- Train BLS as appropriate.
- Influence and develop BHL policy and clinical guidelines.
- Support practice manager and Clinical director when dealing with complaints/incidents.
- Recruit and select staff as required, maintaining and developing the service, ensuring an appropriately skilled workforce.
- Be responsible for the quality of nursing documentation and safe keeping of patients records in compliance with data protection act.
- Assist practice manager with health and safety of patients, relatives, visitors, and staff.
- Communicate in a respectful and polite manner at all times, maintain harmonious working environment.
