Psychological Practitioner in Gender Services
4 weeks ago
Position Overview
The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a distinguished organization dedicated to training and education, alongside a comprehensive array of mental health and gender services.
This clinical position does not necessitate specific specialty training. Candidates from diverse medical or psychiatric backgrounds may possess relevant knowledge and skills applicable to this role, including psychiatric or psychosexual evaluation, hormonal management of endocrine disorders, and experience in sexual and reproductive health.
It is acknowledged that a successful applicant may not initially have the complete range of knowledge and expertise required for this clinical position, particularly if they have not previously worked in a gender identity clinic. In such cases, an induction period and additional support from colleagues will be provided. Continuous peer support from team consultants will also be available.
We are particularly interested in hearing from trainee practitioner psychologists who are nearing the completion of their training and are on the verge of obtaining HCPC registration. We offer a twelve-month preceptorship program for candidates who can demonstrate they are close to finalizing their doctorate and achieving their registration. Upon HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist, you will transition into the Band 7 role.
Key Responsibilities
The individual in this role will be expected to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a variety of outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality, safety, and continuous improvement of services provided to clients, specifically assisting individuals with gender dysphoria or diversity. This will involve applying psychological principles and methodologies in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of gender dysphoria or diversity.
The postholder will need to work closely with the multidisciplinary team and should be well-versed in both medical and psychological frameworks. There is an expectation for the postholder to engage in research and ongoing professional development.
About Our Organization
