About the Role

The London Borough of Lambeth is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Panel Chair to lead our Fostering Panels. As a key member of our Children's Social Care team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our Fostering Panels operate in accordance with regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Chair Panel meetings, ensuring that all items of business are covered and that the Panel operates in accordance with regulations and policies.
  2. Attend at least 80% of Panels and participate in Panel training events and relevant meetings.
  3. Review all relevant paperwork prior to the Panel meeting and inform the Panel Advisor as necessary.
  4. Ensure that all members and attendees can contribute appropriately to Panel processes.
  5. Conduct Panel business in a timely, respectful, sensitive, and non-discriminatory manner.
  6. Provide quality assurance feedback to the Fostering Service provider on the quality of reports presented to Panel.
  7. Ensure that written minutes of Panel meetings are accurate and clearly cover key issues and views expressed by Panel members.
  8. Advise relevant social workers of Panel recommendations.
  9. Ensure that Panel minutes are agreed, signed, and shared with the Agency Decision Maker within a week after the Panel.
  10. Review and ensure that the number, skills, knowledge, and experience of Panel members are sufficient to enable the Fostering Service to constitute Panels that can make competent recommendations.
  11. Participate in an annual appraisal and undertake the annual appraisal of Panel Members with the Fostering Panel Adviser.
  12. Meet with Vice Chairs and Fostering Adviser on a six-monthly basis to review Panel function and identify training needs.
  13. Provide an overview of Lambeth Fostering Service provision, offering feedback on report quality and areas for development.
  14. Contribute to the production of the annual Fostering Agency reports presented to the Corporate Parenting Panel.
  15. Attend meetings with relevant managers as required to discuss policy, strategy, and performance.
