Fostering Panel Advisor Job Description

Job Purpose:

To provide expert advice and support to the Fostering Panel, ensuring that decisions are made in the best interests of children and young people. This role requires a high level of social work expertise, with a focus on quality assurance, communication, and liaison.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality advice and guidance to the Fostering Panel, ensuring that decisions are informed by the latest research and best practice.
  2. Develop and maintain effective relationships with foster carers, children, and other professionals to ensure that the needs of all parties are met.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments and quality assure reports presented to the Fostering Panel, ensuring that they are accurate, comprehensive, and meet the required standards.
  4. Provide training and support to foster carers and other professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge in relation to fostering.
  5. Work closely with the Service Manager and Agency Decision Maker to ensure that the Fostering Panel's decisions are implemented effectively.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England Registration.
  • Experience of working in a statutory setting with children and making professional judgments that deliver improved outcomes.
  • Evidence of building effective relationships with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Working knowledge of national policy and developments regarding children's social care, and policy areas that impact on children's social care.
  • Able to engage and develop effective professional relationships with other professionals and organisations for the benefit of individual children and foster carers.
