Shop Manager Job Description

Our client, a leading charity retailer, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shop Manager to join their team. As a Shop Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the shop, including sales, customer service, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the shop, including sales, customer service, and team leadership.
  • Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers to maximize sales and revenue for participating charities.
  • Communicate and work effectively with other shop managers to ensure day-to-day operations are met.
  • Meet sales targets, increasing sales and profit for the shop.
  • Manage stock levels, replenishing as needed and liaising with the Regional Manager to request top-ups.
  • Set up and manage the EPOS system, training volunteers as needed.
  • Responsible for cash handling, reconciling EPOS and all banking procedures.
  • Identify volunteer recruitment needs and action recruitment campaigns in discussion with the Regional Manager.
  • Support the marketing team with activities to raise the profile of the shop and organization in the local community.
  • Take responsibility for rotas to ensure the shop is always operational within its agreed opening hours.
  • Offer exceptional customer service.

Requirements:

  • Experience across customer-facing environments.
  • Experience of working under own initiative within an established commercial framework.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the retail sector, ideally within a charity context.
  • Can lead a team of people with passion and enthusiasm, offering support as needed.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to make decisions to drive revenue.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people at different levels.
  • Understands excellent customer service and can act as an ambassador for our client in their local community.
