The Security division plays a crucial role in safeguarding the Department's personnel, assets, and sensitive information from potential threats.
We achieve this by cultivating a diverse workforce that includes experts, generalists, and entry-level professionals who collaborate to tackle the challenges we encounter.
This diverse composition enables us to nurture talent and benefit from a wide array of life experiences. The security division comprises two distinct teams: the Core Security Team and the Trade Negotiations Security Team. This position is part of the Core Security Team.
This newly established role will focus on guiding our supply chain security and assurance needs.
You will collaborate across DBT to ensure compliance with the necessary industry security requirements outlined in the Government's Security Functional Standard.
As a member of this newly formed team, you will be instrumental in overseeing our 3rd Party Supply Chain Assurance, ensuring adherence to the Government Functional Standard.
This position will report to a G7 manager and will be directed by the Information Risk, Assurance, and Oversight Security Advisor.
Your responsibilities will include identifying vulnerabilities and evaluating risks throughout the contract lifecycle, starting from the pre-contract phase.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adopt a comprehensive approach to supplier assurance that addresses and mitigates security risks. You will collaborate with cyber security, data protection, and Information and Risk Assurance Process (IRAP) teams within the department.
- Establish relationships with National Security Agencies, the Government Security Group, and other governmental bodies to promote best practices in supply chain security, ensuring that suppliers meet the relevant security policies set forth by DBT and HM Government.
- Integrate security considerations into departmental contracting processes, including the obligation for suppliers to inform contract managers of any security incidents or changes to their security status.
- Ensure procurement aligns with the appropriate Government classification and that suppliers comply with facility security clearance requirements.
- Conduct regular assurance checks to confirm that suppliers are meeting security standards and that these measures remain sufficient.
- Foster a culture of awareness and education, emphasizing that mitigating industry threats is a collective responsibility, while contract managers are accountable for the security of their designated suppliers.
