Band 7 Therapeutic Radiographer - Full-Time, Fixed Term

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and driven Therapeutic Radiographers to take on the role of Band 7 Team Leaders in Radiotherapy at our facility. Ideal candidates will possess a robust technical foundation, familiarity with advanced imaging methodologies, and the capability to oversee a multifaceted treatment unit.

The successful applicants will thrive in a collaborative environment, demonstrating strong leadership skills while providing outstanding communication and patient care. These positions require individuals confident in leading the implementation of advanced radiotherapy techniques, including SABR, IMRT, VMAT, and breath-hold techniques, along with experience in IGRT utilizing both EPI and CBCT within a quality-focused setting. Our department is equipped with six Elekta linear accelerators, an Elekta MR linear accelerator, a Cyberknife unit, and a Gulmay superficial unit, with plans for additional Radixact units. We also utilize a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and multi-modality imaging for treatment planning. Candidates should be dynamic and motivated, with a strong emphasis on empathy and compassion for patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Clinical Practitioner, you will oversee the radiotherapy processes and manage operations within a specialized, complex radiotherapy environment, which may include treatment units, CT scanners, or project teams focused on digital transformation.

You will supervise your immediate radiographic team, including students and aides, ensuring that all practices result in accurate and effective radiotherapy processes.

The post-holder will collaborate with medical, physics, nursing, clerical, and support staff across the department and institution, with key relationships established with superintendent radiographers.

Job Responsibilities

As the clinical lead, you will be responsible for evidence-based decision-making within established parameters, ensuring competency in analyzing and approving images following designated training and protocols.

You will oversee the accurate preparation, planning, and delivery of treatments by yourself and your team members, setting high standards of technical expertise and serving as a role model for junior staff.

Your responsibilities will include training team members in the safe and efficient operation of all equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and local protocols, under the supervision of superintendent radiographers.

You will also ensure compliance with regulatory responsibilities as defined by the Trust under relevant regulations, making evidence-based decisions within your scope of practice.

Additionally, you will maintain accurate records and provide necessary statistical information as required by yourself and your team.

You will be responsible for daily and weekly quality assurance of equipment in accordance with ISO 9001 documentation, including fault reporting, and participate in the ongoing audit and development of the department's quality assurance program.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer (requires BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited program)
  • Significant experience in a sophisticated radiotherapy environment as a Senior II, particularly in advanced techniques like IGRT
  • Participation in a quality management program
  • Previous involvement in the clinical education of pre-registration students

Desirable

  • Experience in research, audit, or service evaluation
  • Familiarity with paper-light or paper-free radiotherapy processes
  • Experience using Aria/Mosaiq systems
