About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to support children in KS2 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in our small Primary School in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to children in KS2 with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with their learning.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Management Plans.
  • Support teaching staff in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, where all children feel valued and recognized.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of each child.
  • Monitor and report on children's progress, identify any areas of concern and contribute to regular reviews and assessments.
  • Accompany children on educational visits, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience working within an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and the impact these can have on learning and behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
