Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in a Secondary SEMH provision in Northenden, South Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a background or studies in health & social care, psychology, youth work, or sports coaching.

Job Summary:
  • Provide mentorship and academic support to Key Stage 3 and 4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Work with students who have an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to help them engage with the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the school's ARC team to address attendance issues and develop plans to support vulnerable pupils.
  • Support students with various learning disabilities and provide a safe and inclusive environment for them to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a mentor to students who are struggling to work in a static classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement action plans to support students in achieving their targets.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive support system for students.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students who are experiencing difficulties.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students and support their social and behavioural needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment.

  • A competitive daily rate of £95.
  • A full-time position with a minimum of 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only).
