Position: Senior Safety Assurance Engineer

Location: Flexible working arrangements available.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, ranging from £53,589 to £65,473.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough evaluations of Aircraft/System/Sub-System and Support Products/Goods to ensure design safety throughout the product lifecycle, including preliminary hazard assessments and system safety evaluation reports.
  • Creating, revising, and assessing Safety Assessment Reports and Hazard Analysis documents, incorporating methodologies such as Fault Tree Analysis and Event Tree Analysis to meet certification standards.
  • Maintaining and updating hazard logs for platforms and support products, while generating safety assessments and justifications for design decisions.
  • Reviewing certification evidence for platforms and support products, generating safety certification arguments to confirm the acceptability of designs.
  • Ensuring that safety engineering documentation supports the certification of product designs, preparing necessary materials for reviews by internal teams and external partners.
  • Conducting risk assessments for emergent issues related to Weapon Platforms, supporting the design areas in ensuring continued airworthiness and product safety.
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers to establish delivery timelines.
  • Delegating tasks to qualified team members and managing personnel responsibilities, including performance reviews and career development.
  • Coordinating with senior management to ensure the availability of qualified personnel within the team.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a STEM field, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in safety engineering with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong sense of self-motivation.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Systems or Mechanical Engineering, and Safety Engineering in a military airborne platform context.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as the UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, and EN 61508.
  • Experience with safety analysis tools including Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation.
  • Ability to engage with senior technical leaders and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Capability to lead discussions on technical aspects and safety acceptability throughout the product lifecycle.
