About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Assurance Specialist to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our Safety Assurance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe introduction and application of our products and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform safety assurance activities for projects and programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legislative and guidance requirements.
  • Develop and implement safety plans, including risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification, and validation.
  • Chair hazard identification activities and review RAM, VV&T, T&C activities from a safety perspective.
  • Organize and attend periodic safety reviews, and develop safety cases/safety justification reports.
  • Provide advice on safety assurance to project teams and liaise with customers, assessment bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare safety assurance inputs for tenders and tender evaluation, and act on behalf of the Alstom UK RCSM or SAM as required.
Requirements
  • Education to HND or equivalent in an engineering-related subject.
  • Accreditation as an Expert in Safety Assurance, and understanding and practical application of conventional UK signalling application projects.
  • Practical railway industry experience in safety engineering or safety assurance and systems engineering.
  • Practical understanding and application of the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and associated procedures and application.
  • Accreditation of successful completion of training in the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (in written and spoken English).
