Application Development Specialist

About the Role
The Riverside Group is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our DevOps Chapter, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Software Enhancements
- Design and develop software enhancements, reports, and interfaces to meet functional and non-functional requirements, in line with pre-defined development and unit testing standards and controls.
- Collaborate with Business Stakeholders
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders and project colleagues to ensure software design and development aligns with business requirements and project scope, seeking expertise and guidance as required from Lead Engineers or other technical specialists.
- Ensure Quality and Testing
- Collaborate with Test Analysts to ensure software testing standards are met and provide an efficient and effective defect resolution response as required.
- Provide Application Support
- Provide application support as required, including incidents and problem management, maintaining applications, databases, keeping up to date with vendor-supported releases (and in-house upgrades for bespoke elements), patches, and maintenance/upgrades, proactively managing performance, availability, and resilience.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and procedures.
- Ensure Knowledge Transfer
- Ensure detailed knowledge transfer to the IT Service Delivery function upon successful project completion, including the handover of technical documentation and specifications for maintenance and housekeeping.
- Meet Information Security Requirements
- Ensure that all information security requirements, including data protection, are met in accordance with the Group's policy, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Meet Health and Safety Requirements
- Ensure that health and safety requirements are met in accordance with the Group's policy, procedures, and statutory requirements.
Requirements
- Experience of Conformance to Software Development Standards
- Experience of conformance to software development standards, tools, and techniques.
- Deep Understanding of Mainstream Development Languages
- In-depth understanding of mainstream development languages, such as Java, C#,.Net, etc.
- Experience of Software Development and Defect Management Systems
- Experience of Software Development and Defect Management Systems, such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Experience of Working with Various Database Technologies
- Experience of working with various database technologies, including SQL Server.
- Deep Understanding of Information and Data Security
- In-depth understanding of information and data security.
- Good Working Knowledge of ITIL Service Management
- Good working knowledge and experience of ITIL service management and operations processes gained in a complex IT function.
- Experience of Core IT Business Systems
- Experience of core IT business systems, such as HR, Finance, Housing & Asset Management, and other aspects of supporting the delivery of a third sector, not-for-profit organisation.
