Trainee Technician for Theatre Sterilization Services

Work Schedule: The shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 20:00.

Position Overview: This role is situated within the Central Decontamination Unit (CDU), which offers a complete decontamination and sterilization service to theatres, clinics, and community services within the Glasgow area. The unit processes approximately 12 million reusable instruments annually.

All employees are expected to acquire multi-skilled capabilities across all zones of the CDU to meet the diverse requirements of the position. Once fully trained, staff will rotate through various zones regularly.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of reusable medical devices.
  • Engage in tasks appropriate to the grade of Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) Support Worker across all CDU zones.
  • Receive training in decontamination processes, assembly, checking, packaging, and sterilization.

Qualifications: A solid understanding of medical device decontamination is essential, along with a good general education that includes literacy and numeracy skills. Manual dexterity is also desirable.
