Theatre Care Assistant
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 individuals across a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical roles. Our commitment is to provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population exceeding 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million when considering our regional and national services.
As part of our ongoing commitment to employee welfare, NHS Scotland is implementing a reduction in the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, with no alteration in salary. This adjustment will also apply on a pro-rata basis for part-time staff. It is important to note that not all service areas may transition to the new working hours immediately, and temporary adjustments may be required for certain positions.
The shift pattern for this role is variable, accommodating a range of working hours.
This recruitment may close early due to the volume of applications received.
We are pleased to announce openings for Band 3 Health Care Support Workers within the perioperative department, specifically as part of the theatre and recovery team.
Successful candidates will be expected to work a variety of shifts, including early, late, night, and weekend hours, with full-time positions offering 37.5 hours per week.
The perioperative suite consists of 11 theatres, covering a range of specialties such as trauma, orthopaedics, neurology, cardiac, ENT, general surgery, and urology, often catering to patients with complex, multi-faceted conditions.
The role involves being an integral part of the multi-disciplinary theatre or recovery team, delivering compassionate, person-centered care to children undergoing surgical procedures, while also providing support to their families and caregivers. Responsibilities include utilizing technical skills related to equipment and ensuring a safe, clean environment for all patients and staff.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a caring disposition, adaptability, and a willingness to acquire new skills. Previous experience in healthcare or working with children is preferred but not mandatory.
This position may be particularly appealing to individuals seeking a role within a dynamic, family-oriented environment.
An induction program will be provided, along with on-the-job training.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to fostering a diverse workforce and encourages applications from all sectors of the community. We take pride in promoting a culture of inclusion throughout our organization.
We are also a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to being a Forces Friendly Employer, recognizing military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment process.
