Job Overview

The role of the Crisis Management and Resilience Officer is pivotal in ensuring that the organization is equipped to handle various emergency scenarios, including significant incidents, labor disputes, extreme weather conditions, and threats related to Counter Terrorism and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) events. The officer will leverage their expertise to implement organizational protocols aimed at minimizing service disruption during emergencies and facilitating a swift return to normal operations.

Key Responsibilities

The officer will collaborate with various departments and units across the organization to evaluate their readiness to respond to diverse emergency situations. This includes:

  • Assisting in the development and enhancement of response plans and procedures.
  • Providing training and conducting simulations to ensure preparedness.
  • Coordinating efforts across teams and departments to manage emergency responses effectively.

Additionally, the officer will exemplify compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a culture of collective leadership within the organization. This involves:

  • Engaging and empowering team members through a consistent leadership approach.
  • Utilizing coaching techniques to promote ownership of learning and continuous improvement.

Job Duties

The Crisis Management and Resilience Officer will be responsible for:

  • Collecting and analyzing data in various formats to support the Emergency Preparedness Department's initiatives.
  • Identifying training needs and delivering tailored training programs using diverse methodologies, including presentations, e-learning, and face-to-face sessions.
  • Conducting targeted audits to assess response capabilities and the functionality of emergency equipment.
  • Managing projects as assigned by senior leadership within the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience, and Response team.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A recognized qualification in emergency preparedness or service improvement at diploma level or equivalent experience in a public sector setting.

Desirable:

  • Computer Literacy and Information Technology (CLAIT) qualification.
  • RSA qualification.
  • Experience in service improvement initiatives.

Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in educating and training personnel.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing major emergencies within the public sector.
  • Involvement in multi-agency planning efforts.
