Kings Camps operates sports and activity day camps for children during school holidays, dedicated to our mission of promoting physical activity, enjoyment, and learning.

We believe that exceptional programs are delivered by exceptional people. We are currently seeking dedicated Aquatic Instructors and Lifeguards to contribute to our mission in the upcoming year.

As a certified SEQ Level 2/STA Level 2 instructor, you will be responsible for conducting tailored and engaging sessions lasting 30-45 minutes for mixed ability groups of children aged 5-17, focusing on enhancing water confidence and swimming skills. This role is open to instructors with or without lifeguarding qualifications.

About the Role

Reporting to the Camp Manager and collaborating with a like-minded team, you will engage with 3 to 8 groups of mixed ability children, with a maximum of 16 participants in the pool at any time. Sessions typically last between 30-45 minutes, with scheduling varying based on pool availability.

Child safety is our utmost priority, and you will ensure the well-being of children at all times, supervising during breaks, participating in swimming activities, overseeing equipment use, and promptly addressing any incidents.

As an Ofsted registered organization, you will have the chance to observe our high standards in child care and well-being, gain first aid qualifications, build relationships with parents/guardians, and access our top-tier training programs.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • At least 12 months of experience as a swim instructor
  • Possession of a current SEQ Level 2 or STA Level 2 certification
  • Current Lifeguard Qualification: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC), with up-to-date certification required
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with children
  • A passion for developing and mentoring young individuals
  • A collaborative spirit, comfortable with diverse responsibilities and building positive relationships with children and staff
  • Ability to plan swim activities for various age groups
  • Knowledge of conducting depth testing and risk assessments
  • Capable of designing and delivering engaging sessions that cater to a wide age range while prioritizing child welfare.
