Job Summary

This is a specialist administrative role within the Ministry of Justice, providing support to the Security Intelligence Department and assisting the Head of Security in delivering an effective intelligence system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Intelligence Analysis
    • Analyse and evaluate intelligence information to support decision-making in the prevention of security breaches and management of incidents.
    • Undertake further analysis on Security Incident Reports (SIRs) as required.
  • Intelligence Reporting
    • Produce a monthly Intelligence Report and disseminate it as required within the establishment.
    • Collate feedback and present the report at the monthly Security meeting.
  • Security Intelligence System Management
    • Regularly update line management regarding local security issues and any intelligence received.
    • Maintain, update, and ensure the security intelligence system is used appropriately.
  • Communication and Liaison
    • Check security information received, determine its importance, and recommend responses and solutions.
    • Liaise with other establishments, Law Enforcement groups, and external agencies to disseminate intelligence and SIR information.
  • Training and Development
    • Deliver in-house training in intelligence-related procedures, including induction training for new starters and ongoing training.
  • Advice and Guidance
    • Provide advice and guidance to the Security Manager on current trends and issues.
  • Monitoring and Compliance
    • Monitor the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) and Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS) procedures.
    • Monitor prisoner communications in line with relevant policies and standards.
  • Support and Coordination
    • Support the Establishment Corruption Prevention Manager in detecting staff wrongdoing, preventing, and detecting crime.
    • Act as the liaison for the BRENT secure fax and point of contact for all Violent and Sex Offender Register (ViSOR) issues.
  • Counter Terrorism and Extremism
    • Liaise with external stakeholders regarding Counter Terrorism and Extremism.
    • Interview prisoners where intelligence suggests they may be victims of extremist bullying or have requested to speak to Security.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Organise, produce, and maintain accurate records for the area of work.
    • Act as a contact point for all communications to the Team, prioritise, and distribute to the appropriate person or department.
Requirements
  • Able to deal effectively and assertively with staff at all levels.
  • Able user of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Information collation and analysis.
Working Arrangements

This role requires working regular unsocial hours, and a payment at the current approved organisation rate will be made in addition to basic pay to recognise this.
